Liverpool experienced a challenging 2022/23 campaign under Jürgen Klopp, finishing fifth in the Premier League with 67 points and securing qualification for the following season's UEFA Europa League.

Having won both domestic cups and reached the Champions League final the previous season, Liverpool entered the campaign looking to challenge for major honours once again. Klopp's squad featured established players including Mohamed Salah, Virgil van Dijk, Alisson Becker, Trent Alexander-Arnold, Andy Robertson and Jordan Henderson.

The summer transfer window saw Darwin Núñez arrive from Benfica, while Sadio Mané departed for Bayern Munich following six successful seasons at Anfield. Cody Gakpo subsequently joined from PSV Eindhoven in January 2023, strengthening Liverpool's attacking options.

Despite struggling for consistency throughout much of the campaign, Liverpool produced several memorable performances, most notably a remarkable 7–0 victory over Manchester United at Anfield in March 2023.

Gakpo, Núñez and Salah each scored twice, with Roberto Firmino completing the scoring to secure Liverpool's biggest-ever competitive victory over their historic rivals. Salah's two goals also saw him surpass Robbie Fowler as Liverpool's all-time leading Premier League goalscorer.

The Reds enjoyed a strong finish to the campaign, recording seven consecutive Premier League victories during April and May. However, their late resurgence was insufficient to secure a top-four finish, with Liverpool ending the season nine points behind fourth-placed Newcastle United.

In the UEFA Champions League, Liverpool progressed from their group before facing Real Madrid in the Round of 16. Despite taking an early 2–0 lead in the first leg at Anfield, the Reds suffered a 5–2 defeat before losing 1–0 in Madrid, resulting in a 6–2 aggregate elimination.

Liverpool also reached the fourth round of the FA Cup, where they were eliminated by Brighton & Hove Albion, while Manchester City knocked them out of the League Cup at the same stage.

Salah finished as Liverpool's leading scorer with 30 goals in all competitions, including 19 in the Premier League. The campaign also marked Firmino's final season at Anfield, bringing an end to an eight-year spell during which the Brazilian played an influential role in Liverpool's Premier League and Champions League triumphs.

Produced by Nike, the 2022/23 home shirt featured Liverpool's traditional all-red design with a clean, minimalist appearance, complemented by white detailing and the Standard Chartered sponsor. Worn during the club's historic 7–0 victory over Manchester United and Firmino's final campaign, it represents a memorable chapter in Klopp's tenure at Anfield.

Condition
Condition: 10/10 - Brand New with Tags

Each item is individually inspected and graded by our team to ensure an accurate representation of its condition.

Every item at The Soccer Archive is individually assessed and graded on our condition scale out of 10. This rating takes into account the overall quality of the fabric, print, badges and any natural signs of wear that come with age.

Most pieces we sell are vintage or pre-owned, meaning small signs of age can be part of their character.

Our condition guide

10/10 - Brand New with Tags
Outstanding condition with no noticeable flaws. Tags may or may not be present, but the item shows little to no sign of wear.

9/10 - Mint
Very strong vintage condition. May show the lightest signs of storage or previous wear, but nothing that distracts from the item overall.

8/10 - Excellent
A well-kept piece with minor signs of age or use. This could include light bobbling, slight fading or very small marks, but it still presents really well.

7/10 - Very Good
Noticeable wear consistent with age. This may include moderate fading, small pulls, bobbling, minor cracking to print or a small mark.

6/10 and below - Good with Noticeable Signs of Wear
More obvious signs of wear or ageing. This might include heavier fading, marks, pulls, print wear or repairs.

Any notable flaws will always be highlighted in the product description and imagery.

Product Care

Vintage sportswear requires a little extra care to help preserve fabric, colour and printed details.

Following the steps below will help protect sponsor logos, badges, namesets and delicate materials.

Washing

- Hand wash where possible. For delicate or older items, hand wash only
- If machine washing, use a cold wash on a gentle cycle
- Wash inside out
- Wash with similar colours
- Use mild detergent only
- Do not bleach
- Avoid fabric softener

Drying

- Air dry naturally
- Hang or dry flat in a well-ventilated space
- Avoid direct heat from radiators and strong sunlight where possible
- Do not tumble dry

Storage

- Store in a cool, dry place
- Keep away from damp environments or direct sunlight
- For long-term storage, fold carefully to avoid stressing prints and badges
- If hanging, use a wide/padded hanger to help maintain shape

Protecting prints, badges and sponsor logos

- Do not iron directly over prints, namesets, patches or sponsor logos
- Avoid excessive heat, as this can damage vinyl, flock and older materials
- Take extra care with vintage shirts that have original printing or delicate embellishments

Vintage pieces often feature delicate materials and original printing, so gentle care will always give the best results.
