2006/07 saw the club play in their 10th consecutive season in the Champions League however the group stage exit caused manager Trond Sollied to leave the club by mutual consent in December.

Replacement Takis Lemonis was brought in for his 2nd spell in charge of the club and led them to their 3rd consecutive Super League title.
