2014 saw decorated Dutchman Louis van Gaal take over at Old Trafford to help oversee a period of transition, with many long standing legends moved on including Evra, Vidic, Ferdinand and Fletcher. In came Luke Shaw, Ander Herrera, Marcos Rojo, Daley Blind and winger Angel Di Maria.

Following a disastrous previous season, van Gaal managed to steady the club and lead them to a 4th place finish, earning qualification for the Champions League.
