Inter continued their wait for a league title in 1998/99 as they finished 8th in Serie A, meaning it was 10 seasons without a league title for the Nerazzurri.

Despite having 4 different coaches throughout the season, the team performed well in cup competitions reaching the semi-finals of the Coppa Italia and the quarter-finals of the Champions League. Ronaldo finished the season as top goalscorer with 15 goals across all competitions.
