2015/16 was another disappointing season for Milan as they finished 7th in Serie A. This meant it was the 3rd season in a row that they had failed to qualify for European competition.

The team did reach the final of the Coppa Italia, losing to their rivals the Old Lady in extra time. The loss continued a 4 year spell without a trophy for the club.
