After navigating 2 qualifying rounds, Rangers qualified for the 2022/23 Champions League group stage however their performances were poor. 6 losses, just 2 goals scored and 22 conceded saw them eliminated.

Giovanni van Bronckhorst was sacked during the mid-season break and replaced with Michael Beale who couldn't hunt down their old firm rivals as they finished 2nd in the league and runners up in the Scottish League cup.
