2007/08 saw Harry Redknapp take Pompey on a historic run which saw them lift their first major trophy since 1950, thanks to a victory in the FA Cup final. The league season also saw the club finish 8th, their highest league finish in the modern-era. This also included a remarkable game, where a 7–4 victory at Fratton Park, saw a new record set for the highest scoring game in Premier League history.
