Following their FA Cup win the previous season, 2021/22 saw Leicester start the season by lifting the Community Shield after a late 89th-minute penalty scored Kelechi Iheanacho, against his old club, secured a 1-0 victory for the Foxes.

After being eliminated from the Europa League in the group stages, the club dropped into the Conference League, enjoying a run to the semi-finals of the competition. They were eliminated, 2-1 on aggregate, just missing out on their first ever European final.
