Worn across 2 seasons, Eintracht finished 9th in the 1987/88 Bundesliga and won the DFB Pokal under the management of Karl-Heinz Feldkamp. 1988/89 saw the team struggle domestically as they finished 16th meaning a relegation play-off for survival with a 3-2 aggregate victory sparing the club from relegation.
