After earning promotion to the Football League for the first time in the club's 108-year history, 2003/04 saw the Glovers finish 8th missing out on the play-offs on goal difference. Midfielder Gavin Williams was the club's top goalscorer scoring 13 goals in all competitions.

2004/05 took things to new heights for the club as they won the League Two title in just their 2nd season in the Football League. The team scored 90 goals with striker Phil Jevons the leagues top scorer.
