Worn as Ukraine co-hosted the Euro 2012 tournament, marking their first appearance at the tournament. After winning their first game 2-1, they lost their remaining 2 group games which meant elimination from the tournament. 

Following thier elimination, Andriy Shevchenko announced he would retire from international football, having been Ukraine's youngest and oldest goalscorer and record marksman with 48 goals in 111 appearances.
