2016/17 saw Roma eventually finish the 2nd in Serie A, 4 points off the title, securing qualification for the following season Champions League. It was also the last season for club legend Francesco Totti after 24 years with the club. Striker Edin Džeko won the top scorer award in Serie A with 29 goals.
