Worn as the Czech Republic made it to the finals of the 2006 World Cup and they topped their group, reaching the knockout stages. In the Round of 16, the team were eliminated after a 3-0 penalty shootout defeat. Striker Alexander Frei was the team's top scorer with 2 goals.
