Rangers were dominant during the 2002/03 season, winning their 7th domestic treble in manager Alex McLeish's 1st full season in charge. The SPL title was won on goal difference on the last day of the season, thanks to a 6–1 win.

The large win meant the finished on +73 goal difference, just one ahead of their Old Firm rivals. In Europe, Rangers crashed out of at the 1st round of the UEFA Cup thanks to an away goals defeat to little known Czech team Victoria Zizkov.
