DESCRIPTION
Excellent condition. Club crest, sponsor and Adidas logo are all flock and embossed with no cracking or wear. No pulls, few small bobbles across shirt. Colours and stitching in excellent condition.
The 1988/89 season was overshadowed by the Hillsborough disaster on 15 April 1989. where 94 of the club's fans died that day in a crush on the terraces during the FA Cup semi-final of the FA Cup. The total number of supporters lost was 97 when other fans died due to complications of the injuries suffered as a result the disaster.
On the pitch, Liverpool won the rescheduled semi-final and went on to win the trophy by beating their cross city rivals 3–2 in the final. They were then denied a league and cup double for a 2nd consecutive season as they conceded a a last minute goal to send the league title to Highbury on goals scored.
