2014 saw decorated Dutchman Louis van Gaal take over at Old Trafford to help oversee a period of transition, with many long standing legends moved on including Evra, Vidic, Ferdinand and Fletcher. In came Luke Shaw, Ander Herrera, Marcos Rojo, Daley Blind and winger Angel Di Maria.

Following a disastrous season before his arrival, van Gaal managed to take the club to a 4th place finish to qualify for the Champions League.
