Worn at the 2002 World Cup as Italy fell to one of the last instances of a golden goal winning a game during a controversial round of 16 fixture against the co-hosts who equalized in the 89th minute to send the match into extra-time.
Totti was shown a second yellow card for an alleged dive in extra time before Italy then appeared to win the tie with a golden goal of their own but it was ruled out for offside. Their opponents then scored in the 118th minute to secure a 2–1 victory, which allowed them to progress to the quarter-finals of the competition, the first time an Asian team had done so since 1966.
