2021/22 saw Inter unable to defend their Serie A title as they lost out to their cross-city rivals by 2 points, finishing 2nd. The team however did lift the Supercoppa Italiana and the Coppa Italia under Simone Inzaghi. Striker Lautaro Martínez was the teams top goalscorer with 21 goals in the league and 25 overall.
