2022/23 saw Brighton start the season under Graham Potter before he left to take the hotseat at Stamford Bridge in early September. Roberto De Zerbi was appointed as his replacement and he led the Seagulls to a 6th place finish.

This was the highest league finish in the club's history, qualifying for the following seasons Europa League which in turn would be their first foray into continental competition. Alexis Mac Allister was the team's top scorer with 12 goals in all competitions.
