Under the guidance of manager Sir Alex Ferguson, the team faced both triumph and disappointment. The 2002/03 season saw United finish as Champions whilst reaching the quarter finals of the Champions League. Then, a changing of the guard came with iconic winger David Beckham leaving the club being replaced with Portuguese winger Cristiano Ronaldo.
In Ronaldo's first season he impressed mightily, although he couldn't help the Red Devils retain the title and United slipped to a 3rd place finish.
