After Steve Bruce was appointed for the 2001/02 season and a good start to the season gave Palace hope for a promotion challenge. Bruce then attempted to walk out on the club after just 4 months at the helm to take charge of Birmingham City. After a short spell on 'gardening leave', Bruce was eventually allowed to join the Blues and was replaced by Trevor Francis, who led the Eagles to a 10th placed finish in the old Division One.

Comes from the collection of a former Federation official, a copy of the signed letter will be provided.
