Howard Wilkinson's 8 years reign as Leeds manager came to and end after a poor start to the 1996/97 season. George Graham was appointed as his successor, back in football after serving his 1 year ban following his 'bung' scandal. Graham was unable to improve the club's poor scoring record, registering just 28 goals that season. He did however, manage to steer them clear of relegation finishing a respectable 11th place.
