2020/21 saw Bordeaux finish 12th in Ligue 1 under Jean-Louis Gasset. The experienced coach was appointed just before the start of the season after Paolo Sousa resigned due to disputes with the club's board. Striker Hwang Ui-jo was the club's top scorer with 11 goals in all competitions.
