Worn across 2 seasons, 2005/06 saw Bolton compete their 1st ever excursion in Europe, where they reached the Round of 32 in the UEFA Cup. Having missed out on a 2nd consecutive season in Europe after finishing 8th in 2005/06, a 7th placed finish in 2006/07 saw them qualify once again with new signing Nicolas Anelka scoring 12 goals in all competitions.
