Under the guidance of new manager Unai Emery, the team faced high expectations following Arsène Wenger's departure. Arsenal began the season with mixed results but managed to secure a 22-match unbeaten streak in all competitions. However, defensive frailties and inconsistency hindered their progress.

Despite reaching the UEFA Europa League final, Arsenal finished as runners-up. The domestic campaign ended with a fifth-place finish in the Premier League, missing out on Champions League qualification.
