2006/07 saw Reading in the top flight of English football for the first time in their history after lifting the Championship title the previous season. The Royals were competitive and were in the hunt for a European qualification spot all season. They eventually finished 8th, just a point off the UEFA Cup places. Striker Leroy Lita ended the season as the club's top scorer with 14 goals in all competitions.
