Worn as Salernitana finished 17th in the 1990/91 season which meant a relegation play-off game against Cosenza to secure their safety. The team ended up losing 1-0 after extra time, meaning an immediate return to Serie C1 after a single season in Serie B. Striker Daniele Pasa was the teams top scorer with 12 league goals.
