2006/07 season saw QPR struggled. Before the season began Ian Holloway was suspended amidst rumours of his departure for a rival team. Replacement Gary Waddock struggled and was replaced himself by John Gregory.

Despite a few wins early on his appointment didn't improve results and relegation was a real possibility for Gregory's men. However, 5 wins in their last 9 matches secures their Championship status for another year as they finished 18th.
