“Hey Big Spender”

Lazio's spending spree between 1998-2003 was nothing short of extravagant, as the club splashed the cash on some of the biggest names in world football. Led by club president Sergio Cragnotti, Lazio assembled a star-studded squad that included the likes of Pavel Nedved, Juan Sebastian Veron, and Hernan Crespo.

The club's success during this period was undeniable, as they won the Serie A title in 2000 and lifted the UEFA Cup Winners' Cup in 1999. However, the financial cost of their ambitious project would ultimately catch up with them, as the club was hit with crippling debt and forced to sell many of their star players. Nevertheless, Lazio's spending spree remains a fascinating chapter in the history of Italian football.
