DESCRIPTION

Very good condition. Match issue version of shirt. Made in Italy with 92% Nylon, 8% Lycra. Federation crest, star detailing and Kappa logos are embroidered. Player name/number and World Cup sleeve insignia are PolyFlex and heat applied with signs of cracking and wear. No pulls, few small bobbles and marks across shirt. Minimal overall colour wear, stitching in excellent condition.

Worn at the 2002 World Cup as Italy fell to one of the last instances of a golden goal winning a game during a controversial round of 16 fixture against the co-hosts who equalized in the 89th minute to send the match into extra-time.

Totti was shown a second yellow card for an alleged dive in extra time before Italy then appeared to win the tie with a golden goal of their own but it was ruled out for offside. South Korea then scored in the 118th minute to secure a 2–1 victory, which allowed them to progress to the quarter-finals of the competition, the first time an Asian team had done so since 1966.

“Nerves of Steel”

Picture the scene: Euro 2000, Italy versus the Netherlands, penalties for a place in the final, tension as high as it gets. And then, out of nowhere, comes a moment of pure audacity and skill from the maestro himself, Francesco Totti. Showing nerves of steel and a supreme level of skill, he dinked the ball delicately into the net, leaving Edwin van der Sar floundering in mid-air. A thing of beauty, a symbol of his genius, and an enduring image of one of Italy’s greatest ever footballers.
