2016/17 saw the club start the season under Francesco Guidolin but the team struggled and he was replaced by Bob Bradley in early October. The new manager didn't even last until the new year before he was sacked and replaced with head coach, Paul Clement.

After flirting with relegation all season, a run of 4 wins and a draw from their last 5 games saw the Swans survive for another season, finishing in 15th place. Striker Fernando Llorente was the team's top goalscorer with 15 goals in all competitions.
