Italy's 1994 World Cup campaign was a thrilling and bittersweet journey. Led by coach Arrigo Sacchi, the Azzurri were typically defensively strong, conceding just two goals throughout the tournament.

They advanced all the way to the final however, in a tense and goalless final, Italy were defeated in a penalty shootout, missing out on their 4th World Cup title. Despite Baggio's penalty miss costing Italy the title, the tournament ultimately belonged to him.
