1997/98 saw Louis van Gaal take charge of Barca and strikers Sonny Anderson and Rivaldo joined him as direct replacements for Ronaldo who left just before the season began. Rivaldo bagged 20 goals as the team won the La Liga title, European Super Cup and the Copa del Rey title.
