Worn at the 1998 World Cup where the US failed to progress out of their group, losing all 3 games and scoring just once. Brian McBride was the only US goalscorer in the tournament.

The game against Iran, in which he scored, was described as the 'most politically charged game in World Cup history'. A 2–1 victory for Iran was the team's 1st ever World Cup win and paved the way for the US to exit the competition at the first hurdle.
