2004/05 saw Hearts have 4 different managers throughout the season. Craig Levein left the club at the end of October and the season ended with Steven Pressley and John McGlynn jointly in the role as caretaker manager.

On the pitch, a 5th placed finish, a UEFA Cup group stage campaign and semi-final appearances in both domestic cups proved a relatively successful season for the club given the numerous changes in the dugout.
