Sir Alex Ferguson led the Red Devils to their 18th league title in 2008-09, equalling Liverpool's long standing record, putting the clubs on an equal domestic footing. This was Ronaldo's final season with United before leaving for Madrid for a world record transfer fee at the end of the season.

This 3rd shirt celebrated the clubs first European Cup win over Benfica in 1968, a 4-1 victory at Wembley Stadium. The wording 'May 29th 1968 40th Anniversary' embroidery around the club crest was only available on the replica shirts with the team not allowed to wear this version due to league restrictions.
