Worn across 2 seasons, Reading finished 2nd in 2001/02, earning automatic promotion back to the First Division after a 4 year absence. 2002/03 saw the club as one of the favourite for relegation but they defied the odds to finish 4th and make the play-offs.

They were unable to secure back to back promotions as they were knocked out in the semi-finals, defeated 3-1 on aggregate. Striker Nicky Forster was the clubs top scorer in both seasons, scoring 34 goals in all competitions across the 2 years this kit was worn.
