2004/05 season was Milton Keynes Dons' inaugural season as a new club following the controversial relocation of Wimbledon FC during the previous season. Following Wimbledon's relegation the previous seasons the club were playing in the newly re-branded League One, they only just managed to stay in division on goal difference.
