Managed by Roberto Mancini in his 1st full season in charge, is best remembered by City's run in the FA Cup, which saw them defeat their main rivals in the semi-finals before lifting the trophy after a 1-0 victory in the final.

It ended City's 35-year wait for silverware and signified the start of a new era under their new ownership. The club also finished 3rd in the Premier League and qualifying for the Champions League, something that had not happened since 1967–68.
