Wales wore this home shirt during the 2022 FIFA World Cup and subsequent UEFA Euro 2024 qualifying campaign, a significant period that included the national team's first World Cup appearance in 64 years.

Under manager Rob Page, Wales entered the 2022 World Cup in Qatar following a memorable qualification campaign that culminated in a 1–0 play-off victory over Ukraine at the Cardiff City Stadium in June.

The result secured Wales' place at the tournament for the first time since 1958, representing a historic achievement for the national team.

The squad featured established players including Gareth Bale, Aaron Ramsey, Ben Davies, Joe Allen, Daniel James, Harry Wilson and goalkeeper Wayne Hennessey, alongside emerging talents Brennan Johnson and Neco Williams.

Wales began their World Cup campaign against the United States, falling behind to a first-half goal from Timothy Weah. However, Bale converted a late penalty to secure a 1–1 draw, scoring Wales' first World Cup goal since Terry Medwin in 1958.

Their second group fixture brought a 2–0 defeat against Iran, with both goals arriving during second-half stoppage time following Hennessey's dismissal. Wales subsequently faced England in their final group match, suffering a 3–0 defeat that confirmed their elimination from the tournament.

Although the campaign ended in the group stage, Wales' return to the World Cup represented an important milestone in the country's footballing history.

Following the tournament, Bale announced his retirement from professional football in January 2023, bringing an end to an international career that included 111 appearances and a record 41 goals for Wales. Ramsey subsequently assumed the captaincy as Page began preparing the squad for UEFA Euro 2024 qualification.

Wales finished third in their qualifying group behind Turkey and Croatia, securing a place in the play-offs. A 4–1 semi-final victory over Finland set up a decisive fixture against Poland in Cardiff, although Wales were defeated 5–4 on penalties following a goalless draw. The result ended their hopes of reaching a third consecutive European Championship.

Produced by adidas, the 2022–24 Wales home shirt featured the national team's traditional red colourway with a subtle tonal graphic inspired by the Welsh dragon. White three-stripe detailing across the shoulders complemented green accents around the crew-neck collar and sides, while the Football Association of Wales crest completed the design. A daffodil and the Welsh motto 'Gorau Chwarae Cyd Chwarae' appeared beneath the rear collar, celebrating the country's footballing heritage.

Worn during Wales' historic return to the World Cup after 64 years, the shirt became closely associated with Bale's final international tournament and an important chapter in Welsh football history.

Condition
Condition: 8/10 - Excellent

Each item is individually inspected and graded by our team to ensure an accurate representation of its condition.

Every item at The Soccer Archive is individually assessed and graded on our condition scale out of 10. This rating takes into account the overall quality of the fabric, print, badges and any natural signs of wear that come with age.

Most pieces we sell are vintage or pre-owned, meaning small signs of age can be part of their character.

Our condition guide

10/10 - Brand New with Tags
Outstanding condition with no noticeable flaws. Tags may or may not be present, but the item shows little to no sign of wear.

9/10 - Mint
Very strong vintage condition. May show the lightest signs of storage or previous wear, but nothing that distracts from the item overall.

8/10 - Excellent
A well-kept piece with minor signs of age or use. This could include light bobbling, slight fading or very small marks, but it still presents really well.

7/10 - Very Good
Noticeable wear consistent with age. This may include moderate fading, small pulls, bobbling, minor cracking to print or a small mark.

6/10 and below - Good with Noticeable Signs of Wear
More obvious signs of wear or ageing. This might include heavier fading, marks, pulls, print wear or repairs.

Any notable flaws will always be highlighted in the product description and imagery.
