Swansea City finished 15th in the Championship during the 2021/22 campaign under Russell Martin, recording 61 points in the Scottish manager's first season in charge.

Having reached the Championship play-off final the previous season, Swansea entered the campaign following significant changes to their squad and coaching staff. Steve Cooper departed during the summer, with Martin appointed as his successor shortly before the beginning of the new season.

The squad featured established players including Matt Grimes, Jamie Paterson, Joel Piroe, Ryan Manning, Kyle Naughton and goalkeeper Andy Fisher, alongside emerging talents including Michael Obafemi and Flynn Downes.

Under Martin, Swansea began implementing a possession-based playing style, emphasising patient build-up play and greater control of matches. However, the transition proved challenging during the opening months, with inconsistent results preventing the Swans from establishing themselves among the promotion contenders.

Despite these difficulties, Swansea produced several memorable performances, particularly in the South Wales derby against Cardiff City. In October 2021, the Swans secured a convincing 3–0 victory over their rivals at the Swansea.com Stadium, with Piroe scoring twice.

The return fixture in April 2022 proved even more memorable, as Swansea recorded a remarkable 4–0 victory at the Cardiff City Stadium. Goals from Obafemi, Ben Cabango and Hannes Wolf secured the result, completing Swansea's first league double over Cardiff.

The victories represented important highlights during a season of transition under Martin. Swansea eventually finished 15th in the Championship with 61 points, recording 16 victories across 46 league matches.

Piroe enjoyed an outstanding debut campaign following his arrival from PSV Eindhoven, finishing as Swansea's leading scorer with 22 league goals. The Dutch forward quickly established himself as one of the Championship's most promising attacking players, while Paterson and Obafemi also contributed important goals.

In the FA Cup, Swansea were eliminated by Southampton in the third round following extra time, while their League Cup campaign ended against Brighton & Hove Albion. Although the season concluded without a promotion challenge, Martin's first campaign laid the foundations for the team's tactical development.

Produced by Joma, the 2021/22 Swansea City away shirt formed part of the club's kit collection during Martin's debut season in charge. Featuring the Swansea City crest and Joma branding, the design offered an alternative to the club's traditional white home colours. Worn by Piroe, Grimes and Obafemi during a campaign featuring a historic South Wales derby double, the shirt represents an important period of transition for the Swans.

Condition
Condition: 10/10 - Brand New with Tags

Each item is individually inspected and graded by our team to ensure an accurate representation of its condition.

Every item at The Soccer Archive is individually assessed and graded on our condition scale out of 10. This rating takes into account the overall quality of the fabric, print, badges and any natural signs of wear that come with age.

Most pieces we sell are vintage or pre-owned, meaning small signs of age can be part of their character.

Our condition guide

10/10 - Brand New with Tags
Outstanding condition with no noticeable flaws. Tags may or may not be present, but the item shows little to no sign of wear.

9/10 - Mint
Very strong vintage condition. May show the lightest signs of storage or previous wear, but nothing that distracts from the item overall.

8/10 - Excellent
A well-kept piece with minor signs of age or use. This could include light bobbling, slight fading or very small marks, but it still presents really well.

7/10 - Very Good
Noticeable wear consistent with age. This may include moderate fading, small pulls, bobbling, minor cracking to print or a small mark.

6/10 and below - Good with Noticeable Signs of Wear
More obvious signs of wear or ageing. This might include heavier fading, marks, pulls, print wear or repairs.

Any notable flaws will always be highlighted in the product description and imagery.
