Travel Tips for Visiting London
Eurostar: Lille Europe → London St Pancras
For many Lille supporters, Eurostar is the simplest international route. Direct trains run from Lille Europe to London St Pancras International. Bring the passport linked to your booking/ETA and check Eurostar’s live timetable before travel. From St Pancras, King’s Cross St Pancras Underground is directly beside the station.
St Pancras → Soho
Take the Piccadilly line from King’s Cross St Pancras to Piccadilly Circus, then walk around 5 minutes to The Soccer Archive at 24 Great Windmill St. Allow roughly 20 minutes overall, plus any waiting time.
St Pancras → Emirates Stadium
Take the Piccadilly line from King’s Cross St Pancras to Arsenal, then walk to Emirates Stadium. Arsenal is the closest Tube station. Finsbury Park and Highbury & Islington are useful alternatives and can be less congested.
Oyster & contactless
Use an Oyster card or a contactless bank card/device on the Tube, buses, London Overground and most National Rail services in London. Use the same card or device throughout each journey and remember to touch in and out on rail services.
London zones
Soho, King’s Cross St Pancras and the main stations used for Emirates Stadium are within London’s central fare-zone network. You normally do not need to buy a separate paper ticket for these local journeys when using Oyster or contactless.
Arriving by air
Heathrow: Elizabeth line or Piccadilly line into central London. Gatwick: rail services to Victoria, London Bridge or St Pancras depending on operator. Stansted: Stansted Express towards Liverpool Street. Luton: rail connections towards St Pancras via Luton Airport Parkway/Luton DART. London City: DLR into the Tube network. Check the airport/operator before travelling for the route that best suits your accommodation.
UK entry requirement
French nationals travelling as visitors generally need a valid UK Electronic Travel Authorisation (ETA) unless an exemption applies. Apply only through the official UK Government service and make sure the ETA is linked to the passport you will use to travel.
Plan ahead on matchday
The match kicks off at 8pm in London. Local stations and streets become very busy. Holloway Road has special matchday restrictions, Drayton Park is closed on matchdays, and managed queues operate after the final whistle. Check TfL again on the day.
After the match
Do not rely on Holloway Road after full-time: Arsenal says it closes after matches, potentially for up to two hours. Arsenal, Finsbury Park and Highbury & Islington use managed queues. Allow extra time and follow stewards/police. A same-night Eurostar back to Lille is not realistic after an 8pm kick-off: current Eurostar timetables show evening London→Lille departures well before full-time, so plan an overnight stay or return the following day.
Soho → Emirates Stadium
From The Soccer Archive Soho, public transport is the easiest option. These routes keep the journey simple for visitors unfamiliar with London.
Piccadilly Circus → Arsenal
Allow around 25-35 minutes door to door, then extra matchday queue time.
- Walk around 5 minutes from 24 Great Windmill St to Piccadilly Circus.
- Take the Piccadilly line northbound towards Cockfosters.
- Leave at Arsenal.
- Walk around 3-5 minutes to Emirates Stadium and follow matchday signs/stewards to the visiting-supporter area.
Oxford Circus → Highbury & Islington
Allow around 30-40 minutes door to door.
- Walk north through Soho towards Oxford Circus.
- Take the Victoria line northbound to Highbury & Islington.
- Walk around 10-15 minutes towards Emirates Stadium.
- After the match, expect a managed queue on the south side of Holloway Road and follow the signed route.
Matchday Tips - Emirates Stadium
A few quick pointers to keep the journey smooth and the experience stress-free on the day of the game.
Arrive Early
Security searches and station queues build before kick-off. Aim to be in the stadium area at least 60-90 minutes early and allow more time if LOSC’s ticket-exchange instructions require it.
LOSC Ticket Exchange
LOSC says each travelling supporter receives an individual voucher to exchange for the stadium ticket on matchday, with a document check. The exact exchange location/time has not yet been published - follow LOSC’s final instructions.
Passport / ID
Carry the original travel document linked to your booking and ETA. LOSC has confirmed a document check for ticket collection. Do not rely on a photo or copy unless LOSC explicitly says it is accepted.
Bag Policy
Arsenal advises supporters not to bring bags. Only bags smaller than A4 are permitted. Prohibited items include alcohol, glass/cans, flares/fireworks, weapons, large umbrellas, large cameras and other hazardous items.
Station Restrictions
Holloway Road is exit-only before the match, eastbound Piccadilly trains do not stop there pre-match, and it closes after full-time. Drayton Park is closed on matchdays. Use Arsenal, Finsbury Park or Highbury & Islington and expect queues.
Away Section
Visiting supporters are in the stadium’s green quadrant on the south-east side. Arsenal’s general away guide lists turnstiles K, L and M, but warns cup-match arrangements can vary - use the entrance printed on your final LOSC/Arsenal ticket.
Fixture-specific LOSC ticket-exchange details and any supporter convoy/meeting-point instructions were not yet published when this guide was updated. Follow later LOSC, Arsenal, UEFA, TfL and police instructions if they differ from the general guidance above.
